Behind The Scenes: Filming Church Videos
As soon as we learned that our church wouldn’t be able to meet due to COVID-19, we scrambled to make daily devotional videos to encourage our people and keep them connected. And they’ve been a big hit with our church.
So today, if you want to learn more about filming church videos or if you are just curious about how I make them, here is a behind the scenes look at how I have been shooting daily devotional videos for my church.
Nearly every church has made the switch to preaching to a camera. So I hope this is helpful for you and your church.

Thank you for sharing your process. Very helpful. So what’s the cost for the equipment you have listed? Are there additional costs for the software and equipment shown in your office? All total then what’s a reasonable budget to get started doing what you do?
I would estimate it would cost around $1,500 to get all of this gear brand new, but I haven’t added it all up and you might be able to find some of it used. I started with a few things at a time and acquired all of this gear over the last two years.
If your budget is tight, you could start with a phone, a light, and the microphone, and build from there.
You could also spend a whole lot if you have a bigger budget. High-end Cameras can cost thousands of dollars. This setup is on the more affordable side.
I also use a macbook air, and final cut pro for video editing. But again, if you are on a tight budget, you could even edit the video on your phone.
Do you have any noise issues when using that extension cable to your mic?
No. Haven’t had any noise issues at all.
