  1. Oh the mistakes I’ve made . I’m grateful for this pulpit character review. I’m challenged to think through more intentionally.

  2. I completely agree with #6. I think it gives unnecessary attention to the spouse and immediately causes the congregation to unintentionally judge her. I’ve been guilty of judging another mans wife by that comment from the platform.

  3. Great observation, if I had ever used any of these (haha) I would stop right now. Yes, we need to be more careful of things we repeat. Thanks for all you do.

  4. Compared to the great points you make in the other seven, number five seems out of place. Are there really guys, who get an audience repeatedly, who present an exclamation point as major sermon point? Number five, while it calls out a grievous expositional error, seems to me to happen so rarely that it does not belong in the list with the others.

If I’m wrong about the frequency of this error, it must be that a lot of people have entered the pulpit without the benefits of some good homiletical education; and, I hope they are just doing the best they can.

  5. Also asking for the Holy Spirit to be present puts a curl in my hair. Jesus said He would send the Comforter to teach us. The Holy Spirit is already present.

  6. As a youth pastor the smokin’ hot wife thing makes me cringe! I’m like please don’t encourage my students to lust after you wife. These are some good ones.

  7. I really do want God to manifest Himself in our services. I really think God understand what we are really saying These things are petty.

Now I hate the phrase bring ALL the tithes in the storehouse that there might be meat in my house. Where is the storehouse an who eats from it?!?

  8. Good job on all points here.
But just to say. I think to even say anything in a lust full way is wrong and out of place.
This is not the place for it.

  9. In time past I have been guilty of saying these things, until I learned different. I repented and was extremely sorry, because I didn’t realize just how the incorrect arrangement of one or two words could change the whole meaning of what you really are trying to get across.God revealed somethings unto me, which changed my way of thinking and speaking. I’m much more careful with what I speak. You have given major insite on a lot!! God bless!!

  10. Another one: If you have your Bible, turn with me to..correct me if I am wrong but should we not have our bibles IN CHURCH?!?!?
