  1. While I agree with your assertion, something to consider would be the fact that there are some people who don’t listen to anything one has to say unless they can see that the speaker has authority. And for many, that authority lies in the perception of affluence or prosperity.

  2. I agree with some of what you say, but… It’s important to conisder that the price being shown for most of these shoes does not mean thats what they paid for them. Most of these sneakers are available at retail, you can get raffle tickets to be entered into drawings to buy them at retail. The prices that are being shown are resale, based on the last sale that was made on a website called stockx. There are things like pastor appreciation day and birthdays, what if they were gifts? Every pastor has been put in a specific context, dealing with specific people. Image isnt everything, but its not a sin. As a pastor I personally preach in Yeezy’s on ocassion which I bought at reatil for $225, also in Jordan Retro 6 also purchased at reatil for $190. And I have a collection of other sneakers in that price range, does that make me less holy, less anointed than my counterparts wearing $50 dress shoes? I dont think so, and I am by no means a celebrity pastor. As a community of beleivers and pastors who preach the gospel we should be more about point 3… Don’t be so quick to judge.

  3. Great thoughts guys! I preach bare footed. Just in case we spontaneously break out in a foot washing ceremony. =0)

I had the same response as you Brandon when I first saw the feed. But then I thought… who cares? If these guys are making that kind of money and are able to drop that kind of coin for shoes (which I do think is crazy) so be it. It’s their money.

Is it unwise of them? Probably. But some of the greatest people in the Bible were extremely wealthy. I wonder if they had high-end sandals?

I’m not a “celebrity” pastor either. I’ve never had a book deal, TV show and I don’t have a mega church. My instagram account has a HUGE amount of followers… from my family. With that said… We have no idea what their financial or personal life is like. Sadly people will STILL judge them. Even sadder is that people will stop doing what GOD commands us in scripture just because of a guys SHOES! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?

  4. Pastors are supposed to be an example in modesty, humility and good stewards of what God puts in our hands.

  5. I think it doesn’t matter if pastors paid full price or paid little or received sneakers as a gift, if the message is the same as the world then what is the attraction? To elucidate : if your sneakers are a status symbol how much of you cross have you picked up to follow Jesus? If your sneakers attract people who will think its ok to be a Christian with that type if identity then we have left the gospel message behind somewhere.
